Aldersgate Retreat Center – Pacific Palisades, CA

Aldersgate Retreat Center is owned and operated by the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church. Aldersgate serves over 3000 guest each year for retreats, meetings and other events.

The retreat house was built in 1892 as a private home in Los Angeles. It features a Mission Revival-style exterior and a Craftsman-style interior, a popular combination at that time that emphasized clean lines and functionality. Located in the beautiful mountainside of the Pacific Palisades, it is:

  • Less than a mile from Will Rogers State Beach, walking distance to local hiking trails
  • Right around the corner from shops in Pacific Palisades, including Starbucks, The Yogurt Shoppe, Scarlett’s Cupcakes, and on Sundays, there is a Farmers Market
  • 17.5 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Retreat Tuition and Options

Aldersgate is an intimate retreat space. Most of the home’s bedroom accommodations have been allocated for shared space, however there are 3 singles available in this venue (shared bath). These rooms will book fast, so if you have the need for privacy, you’ll want to register early. The retreat price for this room includes meals during your stay. Most of the sleeping accommodations at Aldersgate are shared spaces. This room set up allows for us to extend the best value to our retreat attendees. Room assignment will be gender specific and we will not assign any coed roommates. Aldersgate is limited in capacity, there are only 30 available spots. If you live in the Los Angeles area, and will not need sleeping accommodations, this is a good option for you. The Passport Access ticket allows you to join all of the presentations, experiential gatherings, movie showings and outings. It does NOT include meals. However, the retreat venue is conveniently located to many shops, restaurants and eateries. Provided there’s availability, you can also purchase a separate meal ticket at the retreat venue. Do I have to stay at the retreat center?

No, you do not have to stay at the retreat center. There are many different hotel and Airbnb options.You can purchase a passport pass and participate in all of the talks, workshops and outings (meals and transportation to venue, not included). Below are a few of the many places to stay:

Can I stay at the retreat center an extra night, or arrive early?

Yes. Aldersgate Retreat Center would love to welcome anyone to stay overnight on February 8, 2017 or stay longer for over night on February 12, 2017.  The cost would be $ 85.00 for the same room, with no meals.  There are lots of places in town for to eat (all different types of restaurants, coffee houses and juice and yogurt bars etc.)

How to I get there?

Aldersgate is located in Pacific Palisades, California. Just north of Santa Monica and south of Malibu.

Local Airport

The closest airport is Los Angeles Intl. (LAX), about 19 miles south. Driving time from the airport is about 40 minutes.

Public Transporation From Airport

There is also public transport from the airport. Take Bus R3 from the LAX Lot C Bus Terminal to 4th NB & Colorado. Transfer to Bus 9 (Pacific Palisades) and get off at Sunset WB & Temescal Canyon. Travel time is about 1h 15min. Bus fare is $2.50. Bus leaves every 30 minutes.

Car ride and shuttle from LAX to Aldersgate Retreat.

We will query guest to see who may need a ride from the airport to the retreat facility and back. To the best of our ability we will try to arrange carpool and pick up. What is the refund policy?

Your deposit for the accommodations reserves the room. The balance is due on or before 30 days of the event (Jan 9th, 2017).

Cancelation Policy -If at anytime you wish to cancel your retreat reservation, you receive a full refund up to 45 days of retreat. 50% refund up to 15 days prior to event. No refunds for cancelations within 14 days of the event.

Passport Access is refundable up to 14 days prior to the retreat event.

LIVE Stream access is refundable up to the event date.
